First Snow

I recently made a hat for my dear friend Kaitlin using this pattern from knitty.com, one of my very favorite sites for patterns (they have years of archives which are super easy to browse and contain just about anything you could think up).
The knit lace is incredibly easy, made with yarn-overs and knitting stitches together--once you fall into the rhythm of the pattern it knits up super quick. Per Kait's request, I added the visor and band (which were both made up on the fly, no pattern), and buttons she had picked out.
The pattern is worked from the top down, something I'm not very used to, but was super easy.

This is the end of the Foliage pattern-- at this point I simply crocheted a visor and knit the band.

Fin!

The pattern is called Foliage and the lace itself is made to look like leaves. In this cream color it totally reminds me of late autumn when the trees are covered with snow. Here's a pic of the final product, rocked by none other than Miss Kait herself.

Dishcloths

I swear to God I have knitting ADD.I've been out of work for a few days due to illness and I've been knitting like mad. I was so bored with the cat toys and my wrists were hurting from crocheting the net bag, so I started knitting up some super simple dishcloths with what I have left of cotton yarn in an attempt to clear out a bit of my stash. These little, cute dishcloths are so simple I'll even share the pattern:

cast on 3.
knit 2, yarn over, knit to end.
Repeat this in stockinette until you have 44 stitches.
Next row: knit 1, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit to end.
Repeat this until you have 4 stitches remaining. Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit 1. Bind off.

So simple! Once I'm done with these, it's back to cat toys. I promised them out to people and don't want to be a flake.

Bored with cat toys...

So I started crocheting this net bag... With cheap acrylic yarn. Whatever, it's a break. There's no pattern, I'm just sort of making it up as I go. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for handles but we'll see when I get there. That's half the fun.

Kitty Omnoms

I've been on a mad rampage making stuffed, catnip filled, Chinese cuisine inspired kitty toys, from a super cute pattern from knitty.com. I've got an absurd amount to make, everyone seems to want them for little fluffy, but I'll keep posting.
